Fiji: Navala - Basilio village, February 1998

I had the great luck to end up in Navala late at night. There were no one at the local residential. I was invited in to Basilio who lives in the town - normally guests are supposed to stay at the guest house - but it was my luck. Because I became friend with his family and other people in the village. It was an extraordinary experience to stay there - even it was for only tree days.

This is the largest village where people are living in old time fashion, that is without electricity and indoor water supply. This often leads to a bad European stomach - but you quickly forget that.
