KAYAKING IN DENMARK: Møgelø i Julsø

In a very nice autumn weekend i August 2004 we joined the other kayak clubs from
Århus. This was the annual tour to the most beautiful lake district in
Denmark. We did some serious sunshine rowing in the nearby lakes. Just on the
other bank of Julsø you see the world wide famous (?) "Himmelbjerg tårn" (Sky
mountain tower) at a level of say some 140m - not much - but a very popular
place for sightseeing.
Here you see some of my photos and a couple from Nils, Skjold Kayak Club
(Thanks!). I used my waterproof camera. Hence it was possible for me to take photos from my kayak - without be
afraid for dropping it into the lakes - which is the only bad experience I have
had until now doing kayaking.

When we entered the small lake Eagle Lake (Ørnsø) I saw two fishing eagles.
For the first time I saw an eagle dive down into the water a picking up a fish -
and if flew with the fish for some time between its claws. Vow - that was rather
a exciting experience. Some times you get lucky. With that in mind I raw very
pleased repeating to my self "Yes I saw a fishing eagle" to the small
channel which lead you to Silkeborg Long Lake.
Here you can be lucky to
see the beautiful Kingfisher .....with all senses tuned in I entered as the
first in our group in the channel. After some minutes I was lucky again.
THERE the steel blue small Kingfisher escaped from a small tree further up the
channel......and later on again. Jeep, that was surely my very lucky day.
We
continued onto the water fountain near the center of Silkeborg - and it was nice
to get a cold shower in the sunny weather. And for the first time with an other
photographer nearby - Thanks to Nils from Skjold Kayak Club.
