Torre Del Paine

Chile: Park National Torre Del Paine, December 1999

We meet at the NAVIMAG ferry from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales - four days with fun, beers, wine, dance and a lot of playing cards. We prepared our tents and equipment at Carlitos in Puerto Natales. It was a big day shopping for us all for 4 days, e.g. we bought 6 kilo cheese !!! But when I distributed all the stuff it came down to only 2 kilos pr. guy - and there were plenty of sweet stuff among - uhmmmm :-)

We had beautiful but wet 4 days just before X-Mas in 1999. Thanks to Carlos and his family in Puerto Natales.

We discussed a lot - also which route to take. We meet a guy who had been stocked for two days in his tent during a snow storm. OK, we only had 3-4 days before we should return to Carlitos to celebrate Christmas with him and his family. So we decided to take the so-called w as shown on the map. That is a nice tour where we would visit Glacier Grey, Valley France and the Torres - of course.

The glacier Grey was a nice view and it calved from time to time. We pitched up our tents approx. 1km from the glacier.
