Chile: Santiago. October 1999 and January 2000.

In front of the post office at Plaza de Armas there were some nice sculptures in the very busy capital of Chile - nearly 4 million people living in vast suburbs surrounding Santiago. Just outside town you can go skiing every day year round in the 5-6 km high mountains - amazing.

Santiago is flat and big - noisy. Specially the buses are very noisy. I lived in a narrow bus street and it sounded just like the buses drove into my room!!

But Santiago is nice and safe. Just outside town you can go skiing all year, see Condors or visit bodegas, such as Undurraga wine farm.
