Chile: Isla De Navarino, January 2000

You can get to the most southern populated islands (beside Antartika) by small boat from Ushuaia in the southern part of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

The island is Isla de Navarino (marine island) with its very small "harbour" in Port Williams. Form here you can take some of the very nice but rather unknown treks round on the island. The place is known to be tough, as the weather is much influenced by the cold water in the south and the storms.

The track invites you on a nice and not very much marked trail (sendero) in a rather undisturbed nature where the beavers acts as landscape architects.
