Bolivia: Alti Plano, February 2000
After
leaving St. Pedro de Atacama we crossed the border to Bolivia in a very small
costumer office. After a some hours we actually had moved up to 3 km height and
stopped at the first Laguna. Such a nice and calm lake beside one of the
mountains.
The first night we slept in 4.2
km height. Yes that was to fast moving upwards - everyone got height seek - an
irritating heavy headaches - but we survived.

Next day the driver had problems again with the
engine. So we got time to look around. The driver was unfortunately very silent
- not much information from that guy.
The
day after we got a new driver - he was excellent and knew everything about the
mountains and nature - very interesting.
