Argentina: Fitz Roy, January 2000

After Glaciar Perito Moreno we continued a little up north to the famous Fitz Roy mountains. It is actually called Park National Los Glaciers, because of all its glaciers. We had the chance to see two of them in nice sunshine. Unfortunately the weather became bad, so we missed our chance to go/climb up to the view point of Fitz Roy.

The mountain is very popular among mountaineers - we meet some of them. They are experts in climbing and carry a hell lot of equipment - tough guys. More deep into the mountains there is the great Southern Is massive, a kind of a flat area just like in the middle of Greenland - also a sought after trekking area for specialists.
